OOTD: Boot Fair

Here is my outfit for the day wearing my new boot fair finds. I manged to wrangle these 2 dresses for only £1 each.

Here is my new dress with a thick lacy collar and pleated skirt. It is very comfy and I am looking forward to wearing this in coming cooler weather. I paired it up with flowery headband and Victorian inspired brooch.

Dress: Label cut out, Boot Fair £1

Leggings Primark £ 2

Shoes Iron Fist £35

Bag £10 Primark

I also picked up the purple burgundy  version of the dress which was also just a pound.

August Favourites

It seems the year is going too quickly. Cannot believe that it is September already, however I am looking forward to cosy jumper wearing weather! Here are my monthly favourites for August.

Clothing

IMG_3596

I have been awful summer shopper once again and haven’t brought any summer clothing this month. I am very limited in clothing that doesn’t boil me alive! I have however been getting some use out of my swimmers. Living near the beach I can go for a swim in the sea and instantly cool down.

TV Series

the-oa_66_27.jpg

We currently have Netflix and have just bulked watched ‘The OA’  I cannot wait till the next series comes out. I adore any programmes that explore time/alternative realities so this show is so interesting. Plus going down the rabbit hole of reading all the fan theories just adds to the enjoyment. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone that likes strange thrillers.

Movies

War films are not my cup of tea in the slightest. It was however my partners film choice so we went with this, ‘Anthropoid’. I was surprised with how good this film was, I think it also helped that I didn’t know how this true story turned out, so it was a real thriller for me. Cillian Murphy is a fantastic actor  and this lead me to watch ‘Disco Pigs’ which features a young Cillian Murphy in one of his first films. A film I will also add to this months favourites.

Well this is a bit of a strange one. A 200 year old fossilised cow femur! A person had the bone ID at the museum I work at and when she found out it was just a cows leg she said to chuck it away. It’s felt weird to just put it in the bin and so old too! It now has place alongside my other oddities, which include a birds leg, snake skin, kingfisher pellets and huge selection of bird feathers. (Everything is ethically sourced). I will be on the look out for a glass case which I place the bone inside along with a tag, which will read ‘Human Femur’ just to freak out the visitors.

The Darkling Tag

The Darkling Tag quiz has been hanging around Blogs and youtube for a while now so I thought I would give it ago. Although I don’t really class myself as a goth I think it will still be fun to do.

Summer is here…and what to wear?

Every summer same  old story. I open my wardrobe to find jumpers, long sleeved blouses and cute OTK socks. Once again I have forgotten to plan for summer. I look around the shops trying to find something nice, but it usually consists of bright colours and loud prints.

How does everyone else cope? I read other people’s blogs or youtube channels about how to dress for summer and they have somehow managed to pick up some Victorian inspired lace beauty or light flowing dresses with interesting Gothic prints.

Well I am going shopping this weekend to try and find some cheap summery outfits. Maybe something like this light and airy parachute dress by All Saints.

I would love to hear how you are all coping and what are your tips and tricks to staying cool.

Disturbia Pentagram/ Wednesday Addams Dress Review (Depop)

I got a dress using the sales app Depop. It’s a bit like eBay, but much better as you don’t have to scour through all the Chinese sellers. It is especially for people selling their second hand clothes.  I picked this dress up for only £7, the only flaws being that it has crease marks from being on a hanger, which I am sure will come out with a good iron. Apart from that it looks like new. I would definitely would recommend the app for anyone who wants to bag a bargain, and doesn’t mind second hand.

As the dress looked pretty much new I thought I would go ahead and give a review of this Disturbia dress.

Disturbia Pentagram/ Wednesday Addams Dress Review

I got this dress because I love the whole Wednesday Addams look. So when I saw this dress so cheap I jumped at the chance. I wasn’t keen on the pentagram as I try to stay away from any kind of symbolism/religious themes on my clothes, but I thought I am probably going to wear a cardigan with this anyway, so I didn’t mind.

Pros:

  • The collar is lovely, thick and crisp. It falls very nicely and well made.
  • The fabric is stretchy and gives a flattering fit because of this it is true to size.
  • The printed design is thick and doesn’t look like it will crack and crease.

Cons:

  • The original price of this dress.
  • It is very, very short! But I am 5ft 8
  • The zip on the collar is quite bulky. As it pulls up all the way to the neck, it can be a little uncomfortable as you are always aware of it rubbing slightly.

In conclusion I am very happy with this dress…for the price. I looked up the original price of this dress and it is £40! I really don’t think it is worth that price. For that price I would expect something extra to make this dress worth it. For example: My Banned Apparel Moonlight Silence Keyhole Dress was £30.

These dresses are very similar, the fabric and cut is the same, however this was £10 cheaper but I think the added details like the embroidery, unique artwork and the keyhole cut makes the dress more worth the price tag.

All in all though I am very happy. So watch out for a OOTD post using this dress soon!

Iron Fist Daytime Sleeper Creeper Review /Unboxing

It is my 8 year anniversary with my fiancee! 😀 As a treat he gave me a lovely gift of these shoes that I have been eyeing up, the Iron Fist Daytime Sleeper Creepers. My boyfriend actually managed to get these in the sale at only  £35.99 rather than the original price of £52.99. Also if you sign up to their newsletter you get an extra 15% off. Which pretty much pays off the delivery fee and cheeky VAT that they add at the checkout.

Iron Fist Daytime Sleeper Creeper Review

This box was covered in gray plastic, but my boyfriend removed that and wrapped in wrapping paper. IronFist has very pretty packaging  and its all nicely wrapped with branded tissue paper. There is also scrunched up cardboard paper inside the shoes to keep their structure.

Gorgeous shoes! I don’t mind paying a bit extra when you get shoes that have pushed the design and you get something unique and interesting. Added details on these shoes are the brogue design looks like bats. There are attached bat wings and the sole is coffin shaped.

Pros:

  • A unique shoe, I have never seen anyone with these before.
  • Very sturdy although not too heavy as they use a thick foam for the sole.
  • Vegan ‘Leather’
  • Bat wings are removable and I could wear them on other shoes.

Cons:

  • They are a lot higher (1 1/2 inches ish) than normal creepers, so I will have to get a hang of walking in them.
  • The shoes needs a bit breaking in, especially the back as it rubs a little.
  • I did have a fault with the shoe…..
The Fault

The problem with my shoes was that I found a small nick on the underside of one of the bat wing.

My fiancee emailed the company and they responded straight away. They apologised profusely and said they would send me a new pair, no extra charge. Unfortunately there wasn’t a new pair in stock in my size. So, I could either send them back and get a full refund or get 20% refunded if I decided to keep them. I decided to keep them as the damage is really minimal, you couldn’t see it when worn and I still loved the shoes.

Although, there was problems with the shoe and it was disappointing. I cannot fault the staff for trying to fix the problem.

In conclusion I LOVE these shoes and cant wait till I feel confident enough in my walking abilities to wear them without falling over! I am currently wearing them around the house!
