August Favourites

It seems the year is going too quickly. Cannot believe that it is September already, however I am looking forward to cosy jumper wearing weather! Here are my monthly favourites for August.

Clothing

I have been awful summer shopper once again and haven’t brought any summer clothing this month. I am very limited in clothing that doesn’t boil me alive! I have however been getting some use out of my swimmers. Living near the beach I can go for a swim in the sea and instantly cool down.

TV Series

We currently have Netflix and have just bulked watched ‘The OA’  I cannot wait till the next series comes out. I adore any programmes that explore time/alternative realities so this show is so interesting. Plus going down the rabbit hole of reading all the fan theories just adds to the enjoyment. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone that likes strange thrillers.

Movies

War films are not my cup of tea in the slightest. It was however my partners film choice so we went with this, ‘Anthropoid’. I was surprised with how good this film was, I think it also helped that I didn’t know how this true story turned out, so it was a real thriller for me. Cillian Murphy is a fantastic actor  and this lead me to watch ‘Disco Pigs’ which features a young Cillian Murphy in one of his first films. A film I will also add to this months favourites.

Well this is a bit of a strange one. A 200 year old fossilised cow femur! A person had the bone ID at the museum I work at and when she found out it was just a cows leg she said to chuck it away. It’s felt weird to just put it in the bin and so old too! It now has place alongside my other oddities, which include a birds leg, snake skin, kingfisher pellets and huge selection of bird feathers. (Everything is ethically sourced). I will be on the look out for a glass case which I place the bone inside along with a tag, which will read ‘Human Femur’ just to freak out the visitors.

March Best Buys

I am going to share with you my fashion purchases for March.  I think I was quite a thrifty buyer this month getting some good deals in the sales.

I got the jumpers from H&M sale. The two pastel jumpers are like my blue one I got in January and I like it so much that when I saw them for £4 each I had to snap up that bargain. I also needed a plain black cardigan for when I start my new job, so when I saw this baggy cardigan down to £7 from £15 it was perfect.

Whilst doing the 30 days of fashion challenge one of days’ challenges was to choose my favourite t-shirt. I realised I didn’t have many t-shirts to choose from at all. So when I saw these  in Primark for only £2 I brought two as the weather is starting to warm up and I need some more cooler clothing.

I got this cute jumper from a charity shop for only £1.50. Its a strange fit with elasticated bottom and arms which are very tight and the rest of it is really baggy. Hopefully I can find a  to make this work as I love the pattern.

Lastly, I brought this comb. It is a life(hair) changer! I backcomb my hair to get it into a huge ball of mess which I love. Bigger the better. This comb allows me to get it bigger than I thought previously possible and it maintains it for longer with no droop!

February Buys

I haven’t brought much this month, but I think what I have gotten is super cute!

Pusheen T’shirts! Primark £6 Hello/£8 Mermaid

I haven’t got many t-shirt so these are going to be perfect for the summer! They are so cute and I love little pusheen!  The mermaid version has a faded pink to white background too, so its perfect for pastelly fairy kei style days.

Fluffy Blue Petticoat! Charity Shop £4

I got so lucky and found this petticoat for only £4! It doesn’t look used and it is really puffy, with loads of layers. Usually a petticoat this long and full would be around £30, so I am really happy with this purchase. It is quite long which is a shame it doesn’t work with most of my skirts, however it will be perfect for my dress/skirt from Lindy Bop.

Moisturising Cream/Eye Gel Boots 3 for £3

So my partner needed some face wash and this stuff was cheap and it had the deal for 3 for £3 so we thought we would get the face wash and  and get a few other bits. I needed something for my eyes as I have been getting really bad eye bags lately. I didn’t expect these to work that great; they where cheap and in the essential range. However these have worked amazingly! My skin feels smoother and is brighter and the skin under my eye doesn’t feel so thin. I also have very sensitive skin and have had no break outs from using these.  So I would definitely recommend these products for a cheap alternative from the expensive brands.
